Alcohol & Tobacco: Collaborative Intervention with Pregnant Women


A presentation/discussion format that includes a review of the impact of alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy:

 

Barriers to discussing alcohol use with pregnant women are examined.
  Approaches to screening with women for alcohol use during pregnancy are considered.
 

A framework is offered that is harm reduction-oriented, collaborative and wraps care around the mother-child unit.

 

The role of health professionals in educating and supporting women before and during the perinatal period is discussed.
